Bon Iver’s latest album i,i delivers everything I’ve enjoyed in the band’s earlier albums: layered vocals, mellow brass, and glitch. It is both familiar and satisfyingly fresh. The whole experience is reminiscent of the self-titled album Bon Iver. However, the influence of the more recent 22, A Million is still felt clearly in the first two tracks (Yi and iMi) and in smaller doses throughout the album.
i,i provides enough detail and unexpected moments to invite more than passive listening. Here are three of my favorite moments.
